I would at least hear him out. I agree with Kalaslotta - everyone makes mistakes, large or small, and they deserve a second chance. If they make the same mistake again...well that's a different story. Hope things turn out well for you.
I think the most important is that you guys sit down and really talk seriously about all of this. What is happening? Why is it happening? What does he want? What do you want? Maybe the two of you need a break from each other to think things over. The most important thing is that there is a change, that this does not happen all over again. I hope it all works out but it will probably be a long and bumpy road.
